What is the KHJN Abortion Support Fund?
The KHJN Abortion Support Fund is a staff supported network of volunteers who help people seeking abortions with financial assistance, transportation, interpretation, and more.
Who does the Fund work with?
We work with any person in Kentucky working to obtain an abortion. We promise to treat you with respect regardless of your race, religion, gender, sexuality, incarceration status, age, ability, preferred language, or citizenship. We acknowledge the impact intersecting identities have on abortion access.

You will hear back from a hotline volunteer within 24 hours. They will ask you a few questions about yourself and your pregnancy. You can discuss with them your experience and what you need.

NAF has a national hotline that provides non-biased, judgement free information about abortions. They can help fund callers in need of financial assistance. We use their criteria for giving pledges, so it is important for you to call them. Additionally, they have a larger budget than us, so they may be able to give you a larger pledge.
How do I call NAF?
Call 1-800-772-9100 repeatedly during their hours until you get through. The hotline is open weekdays 7:00 A.M.-11:00 P.M. Eastern time and Saturdays and Sundays 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M.
I’m not getting through to NAF. What should I do?
NAF’s hotline helps so many people that it is very busy. Call repeatedly for an hour. Try calling when they first open or late at night. It can be frustrating, but your work can really pay off!
Will the KHJN Support Fund help fund my abortion?
We can’t guarantee you will receive a pledge from us, but we can guarantee to treat you with respect and provide you with as many resources as possible.

- People seeking abortion must receive state-directed counseling that is meant to discourage them from getting an abortion and then wait 24 hours before getting the procedure. This information can be given over the phone.
- A parent must consent for a minor to obtain an abortion. Judicial bypass is available for minors who cannot obtain parental consent.
- Abortion cannot be covered by private insurance, like health insurance you get through your work. An optional insurance rider must be purchased for abortion coverage.
- Public funding -- Medicaid insurance -- cannot cover abortions.
