IMPROVING ACCESS AND DEMAND FOR THE FULL RANGE OF CONTRACEPTION
All Access EKY is a collaboration between Appalshop, Kentucky Health Justice Network, and Power to Decide that works in ten Appalachian Kentucky counties to ensure all eastern Kentuckians have access to the full range of contraceptive methods. We combine storytelling, youth empowerment, clinical provider training, and community outreach to advocate for and increase access to the full range of contraceptive methods.
Together, partners believe that we can improve reproductive well-being in eastern Kentucky through a multistep process of engagement. Our process includes:
Providing eastern Kentuckians with access to critical information about reproductive health, their rights, and resources for support.
Creating an active and engaged Advisory Board of healthcare workers, educators, policy advocates, and leaders from our ten county service area who will help to guide the project, engage directly with young people, and disseminate project materials.
Providing training opportunities for clinical and non-clinical providers across the region to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and capacity necessary to deliver high-quality reproductive health care services and programs. Developing social media and educational resources to meet the needs of young people in the region.
Working with youth producers to create multi-media focusing on issues related to awareness, acceptance and access to reproductive healthcare in their home communities.
SERVICE AREA: All Access EKY serves the following Southeastern Kentucky counties: Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe.
PROJECT PARTNERS: Each partner provides expertise in a core area of our project mission-- from community-based storytelling as a tool for social change, to better birth control training, and increasing reproductive justice through education, outreach and direct support.
