Job Title: Abortion Support Fund Director     Department: Abortion Support Fund
Reports to: Executive Director                          Salary: $47,000
​
Location: Remote but located in Kentucky


Key responsibilities in the Position:
Client and Caller Services (80%):
  • Support hotline volunteers to provide high-quality intake and case management for KHJN Abortion Support Fund callers via phone.
  • Support hotline volunteers to coordinate practical support (rides, housing, childcare, etc.) for rides needed utilizing our volunteer practical support network.
  • Coordinate with clinics, other abortion funds, and local resources
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to conduct client intake and provide support
  • Maintain accurate and complete caller records in G-Sheets, and monitor caller feedback and follow up.
Program administration & Development (10%):
  • Track spending and update the KHJN Abortion Support Fund budget throughout the year
  • Coordinate and engage our statewide network of hotliners and practical support volunteers, including connecting them to fundraising and advocacy opportunities.
  • In partnership with other staff, define and improve standards for client and caller intake, service documentation, referrals, and resources; maintain up-to-date protocols and policies for the KHJN Abortion Support Fund.
  • In partnership with other staff, identify opportunities to strengthen and adapt programs as the legal and practical landscape of reproductive rights evolves.
Fundraising and Outreach (5%)
  • Contribute stories and data for grant applications, reports, donor appeals, and email communications to donors/supporters/funders.
  • In partnership with staff, participate in the annual Fund-a-thon campaign.
Other (5%)
  • Participate in regular virtual one-on-one, team, and staff meetings
  • Represent KHJN in networks, events, or coalitions as appropriate.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an Abortion Fund Director who is passionate about abortion access and reproductive justice, and has a talent for supporting diverse clients with both warmth and boundaries. The ideal candidate is responsible, organized, flexible, detail-oriented, enjoys working with colleagues and clients of diverse backgrounds and experiences, and knows when to ask for help while also being able to work independently. Must be able to hold confidential information and function effectively in a statewide and virtually connected organization.
Qualifications:
  • Cultural awareness and humility, and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse people.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, compassion, and capacity for giving and receiving feedback.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and reproductive justice
  • 1-2 years in direct service programs, particularly telephone-based programs; significant volunteer experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with the abortion rights and care landscape of Kentucky is a plus.
  • Experience working remotely and virtually
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Gmail, Google Suites, and ability to learn cloud-based programs and other tools we use.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, to communicate by text, phone, and video conference, and to travel occasionally within Kentucky for meetings, events, and conferences. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

100% employer paid health insurance, $50 per month cell phone stipend, 30 days of PTO per year, 11 paid holidays and 401k option.
