Job Title: Communications Coordinator    
Department: General Operations                                    
Reports To: Executive Director   
Location:  Hybrid
Salary: $23/hour

FLSA Status: Part Time (20-25 hours per week), Non-Exempt 

Position Summary
The Communications Coordinator will manage and enhance the digital presence of KHJN through social media platforms and overall communication strategy. The Coordinator will lead/support marketing materials (both virtual & printed) for KHJN’s Abortion Support Fund, Trans Health, and Take Root programs to develop resources and awareness for the community at-large. The Coordinator will work with Directors and other staff members to ensure that KHJN’s communication efforts represent our community stakeholders and accurately promote and depict the mission of our organization. The overall goal of this role will be to sharpen the voice and message of Kentucky Health Justice Network for the public.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage social media platform content (primarily Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter) and KHJN website.
Schedule and promote content on various social media platforms.
Use Canva to create images for posts.
Filter media requests 
Maintain an online voice that reflects the values of our callers and stakeholders
Develop printed materials for outreach needs
Collaborate with Directors to strategize content and program needs related to communication
Develop a media kit for press and outreach.
  • Create consistent branding for the organization and respective programs.
  • Support organization-wide efforts to improve external communications to the commonwealth.

Essential Qualifications
A working understanding of the Reproductive Justice framework.
A working knowledge of anti-racism.
Minimum 2 - 3 years of social media management experience. Experience within the nonprofit sector is highly recommended.
Professional experience in Graphic Design.
Experience creating marketing materials such as but not limited to:
  • Merchandise and apparel
  • Mass-shared graphics
  • Stickers
  • One page fact sheets
  • Brochures
Ability to produce quality work as an individual and as part of a team.
Proficiency with Gmail and Google Suites; graphic design software; and ability to learn other cloud-based programs and tools utilized by organization. 
Strong verbal & written communication skills.
Must be detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
Experience and exposure working with campaign efforts and events involving Black, Immigrant, LGBTQ, or Indigenous settings.
A working understanding of the Reproductive Justice framework.
A working understanding of the abortion access landscape in and around Kentucky including legislative and cultural barriers and available resources.
Possess cultural awareness and humility, and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse people. 
Possess and demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence, compassion, and capacity for giving and receiving feedback. 
Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time at a desk; to communicate by text, phone, and video conference; and to travel occasionally (15%). 
Must be able to lift and move up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment
Requires ability to work in a flexible hybrid environment (2 days in the office and 3 days remote), with exception of some in-person meetings that may be required as-needed
Requires availability during traditional business hours 9am-5pm, with some evenings and weekends
Requires ability and willingness to participate on camera for video conference calls with clients and colleagues
Requires limited travel time of 15%
